How does someone keep birds out of trees?

To keep birds out of trees, deter them with shiny objects or protect the tree with netting. Birds frequently become nuisances in fruit trees because they consume all the fruit from the branches.

Some trees, such as cherry trees, are too large for nets. In this case, deterrents are the only solution.

1. Protect the trees with netting

Cover the tree with a thick netting material that is meant to deter birds. Commercial anti-bird netting is the best solution, but it is possible to use any plastic netting that is at least 1/4 inch thick.

2. Deter birds with objects

Shiny or bright objects deter birds from landing in a tree. Stringing aluminum foil, pie plates or strips of white cloth from the branches should keep birds at bay.
