Marvin Sapp performed his hit song "Here I Am," with Jonathan Dunn, which his wife MaLinda called "her song." Sapp's wife died on Sept. 9, 2010, after a long battle with colon cancer. The couple had three children together, Marvin II, Mikaila and Madison.
The funeral was attended by pastors, officials and various gospel music artists. Famous civil rights activist Jesse Jackson was one of the speakers at the four-hour service, and he called MaLinda Sapp's death a test of faith. The main eulogy of the service was given by Bishop I.V. Hilliard, and the service was also streamed online.
