Sonic Update Manager is part of the Sonic RecordNow software found on Dell and HP computers, according to Online Tech Tips. The update manager searches for and updates installed Sonic programs with new versions.

The Sonic Update Manager usually runs in the background until it finds a newer version of the Sonic RecordNow program. Then, the manager pops up when the computer is first turned on and periodically during the operation of the computer. When it shows up, the update manager asks the user to either update the software or choose to update later.

Users can uninstall the Sonic Update Manager through their computer control panel, states the Should I Remove It website.
