The South Carolina Department of Corrections offers a free inmate search that is accessed from the department's home page by clicking on Inmate Search. The Inmate Search page opens and explains what information is available and which offenders are not included in the search.

On the Inmate Search page, a link connects to another page where site users input search information, such as inmates' SCDC or state identification numbers. If neither number is known, individuals are allowed to key in inmates' first and last names instead. The search also has an option for users to click Phonetic Match if they are not certain how to spell names.
