The minimum age to work for Seniors Helping Seniors is 50. Those who work for SHS must also have a reliable car. Typically, someone working with SHS works part-time for a low wage of about $10 per hour, as of 2015.
SHS matches seniors in need of home care, home maintenance and companionship with other seniors who can provide those services. SHS vets its workers thoroughly, and then provides training specific to caregiving tasks. The goal of SHS is to help seniors stay in their own homes as they age, by providing the services they need. Kiran and Philip Yocom founded SHS in 1998 after moving to the United States from India, where Kiran Yocom worked with Mother Teresa.
