What is the speed of light in miles per second?

The speed of light is 186,282 miles per second. An object travelling at the speed of light would make approximately 7.5 rounds around the Earth in one second.
The speed of light cannot be achieved by anything with mass. Einstein's general theory of relativity states that the mass of an object grows and its length contracts the faster it moves. An object travelling at speed of light would have infinite mass and no length, which is impossible.
Warp-speed travel, as faster-than-light travel is known, is therefore not achievable, but it is not impossible either. Scientists are working on theories that allow for such travel once technology reaches a higher level.
