How do spiders move?

Spiders move by increasing pressure in the cephalothorax area, using that pressure to send blood out to the ends of the legs, stretching the legs forward and then decreasing pressure immediately to move the legs to bend. Spiders are able to move quickly because they can increase and decrease their body pressure in milliseconds.

Some of the most common spiders found around the home include wolf spiders, fishing spiders, sac spiders, jumping spiders, sowbug spiders and crab spiders. Wolf spiders are large and move in fast, jerky movements. Jumping spiders move with a funny gait that allows them to run backward and sideways as well as forward.
