How do you tie a prusik knot?

Tie a Prusik knot by looping a cord around a climbing rope, which is useful for rock climbing. It takes only a few minutes. You need a climbing rope and a thin length of cord.
- Start the knot
Lay the climbing rope on a flat surface so that it runs vertically. Fold the cord in half. Lay the cord under the rope horizontally. The loop in the cord needs to be to the left of the rope with the two ends to the right.
- Fold the cord
Fold the loop of the cord over the rope to the right. Fold the ends of the cord over the rope to the left on the inside of the loop. Then wrap the ends under the rope to the right, over the rope to the left and under the rope to the right again.
- Pull the knot tight
The cord should now be on the right side of the rope with the ends over the loop. Pull the knot tight, but leave a little give so that it can move up and down the rope with ease.
- Test the knot
Put weight on the knot. If the knot slips down the rope, wrap the cord around the rope again.
