Sprintec 28 is a birth control medication that contains Ethinyl Estradiol and norgestimate. The medication works by preventing ovulation, as stated by WebMD.
The oral contraception contains female hormones such as estrogen. It also works to change the lining of the uterus, according to Drugs.com. The medication is only available by prescription. Women with high blood pressure or other medical conditions should not take the medication unless advised by a medical professional.
Side effects associated with Sprintec 28 include breast tenderness, irregular menstrual bleeding and changes in weight. Changes in appetite, a rash and darkening of the skin have also been reported.
