What do squid eat?

All squid are carnivores and eat mainly fish, shrimp, crabs and even other squid. They are ambush predators, often relying on stealth to sneak up on prey and capture it before it can escape.
When potential prey is spotted, the squid follows behind it and waits for an opportune time to strike. It uses its tentacles to catch and bind its prey. The tentacles are covered with small suction cups, and the cups themselves are lined with tiny teeth to improve the squid's grip. When captured, the prey is killed with the squid's beak-like mouth, which is very sharp. The squid also uses its beak to tear the prey into smaller pieces so that it can be eaten.
