Do squids have beaks?

Squids do have beaks, and these structures mark the initial part of the digestive system. The beaks are composed of chitin and muscular tissue and resemble a parrot's beak in structure. The beak's function is to capture and break down prey into smaller particles.
A structure known as the radula exists inside the beak. It functions to further shred food particles apart and resembles a tongue with teeth-like structures on it.
The size of a squid's beak depends on the species of the squid. A factor called the lower rostral length is used to describe the size of the beak. It is the measurement of the length of the straight cutting section of the lower beak.
