Do squirrels eat berries?

Squirrels like to eat berries as part of a varied diet. There are many species of squirrels, with each having a varied diet, but generally all of them do like berries.
Most squirrels are herbivores. They live on nuts, seeds, fungi, vegetables, fruits and berries. Corn is generally a favorite food. They also eat flower bulbs and tree parts. Some types of squirrels even eat insects and small animals. Berries, such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, are always a nice treat. Unfortunately, many gardeners have to go to great lengths to keep squirrels from eating the berries they grow for human consumption.
