How do you start a lawn mower?

Start a gas lawnmower by priming the engine and pulling firmly on the starter cord. If the lawnmower has not been used recently, check the gas and oil levels and refill them if necessary.

1. Check lawnmower fluids

   Unscrew the oil cap and make sure that the oil gage is at least halfway full. Next, remove the gas cap and make sure the level in the tank is near the top.

2. Prime the engine

   Find the primer bulb, a button made of flexible plastic located on the top or side of the lawnmower. Press the primer button between three and eight times.

3. Start the lawnmower

   Squeeze the choke lever on the handle of the lawnmower. Grip the starter cord with your other hand and pull it firmly, repeating the motion several times until the lawnmower starts.
