How do you start seeds?

Start seeds indoors by planting them in small containers of moistened soil-free potting mix, watering and then covering the containers loosely with plastic to trap heat and moisture. Keep the containers in a warm, draft-free location, and watch for sprouts. Remove the plastic when the seeds sprout, and water regularly.

Plant three seeds in each container, and follow any special planting instruction included with the seeds, such as soaking or chilling before planting. After the seeds are well sprouted, keep them in a sunny place until they are large enough for transplanting. Seedlings need at least 12 hours of sunlight a day, and more is better. Use special plant lights if natural light is not available.
