Where is the stock exchange located?

The New York Stock Exchange is located on Wall Street in the lower Manhattan area of New York City. Wall Street is home to other financial entities such as the New York Mercantile Exchange and the New York Board of Trade as of 2015.

Wall Street has been a financial district since 1817, when several New York merchants and stockbrokers established the New York Stock and Exchange Board and brokers conducted financial transactions on Wall Street as well as in the Tontine Coffee House. In the early 1840s, the invention of the telegraph allowed the New York Stock and Exchange Board to expand financial trading outside of New York City.
