How do you store a replacement spare tire in your car?

Depending on the vehicle, a spare tire is stored in a special compartment in the trunk or on the exterior of the vehicle. The spare tire is often stored on the exterior of the vehicle to save space inside the car in some car models such as the Jeep Wrangler.
Most newer vehicles do not come with a spare tire and consequentially, do not have any special compartments for spare tire storage in the interior or exterior of the vehicle. Car manufacturers cite cost and improving gas mileage as reasons for the absence of spare tires. A 50 pound tire adds extra weight to the vehicle, which reduces gas mileage and the addition of a spare tire can cost hundreds of dollars.
