Do stores sell radon test kits?

Many stores such as Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Lowe's sell radon test kits, both in-store and online. These kits provide a quick and easy way for homeowners to test their homes for the presence of radon.

There are several different brands of radon test kits, including First Alert and PRO-LAB. Regardless of brand, the tests generally work the same way: the consumer places the kit in his home to allow it to gather a sample of the surrounding air and then sends it to a lab, which tests the kit for radon and notifies the consumer of the results. If necessary, the lab also recommends the next steps the consumer should take if the test reveals radon in the consumer's home.
