Are storm shelters needed in Oklahoma?
By Forinfos - 13/05/2025 - 0 comments
Storm shelters are a life-saving investment in tornado-wracked Oklahoma. Storm shelters, also referred to as storm cellars, are often built as underground bunkers. They are often designed to withstand the destructive effects of the most powerful tornadoes.
According to Tornado History Project, 3,554 tornadoes struck Oklahoma from 1950 to 2013, killing 496 people and injuring a further 7,658. This is why the state is often referred to as being in the midst of the "Tornado Alley" region of the Midwestern United States. It tends to see more severe weather that causes damage to human life and property than many other parts of the country.
