Does sugar make you fat?

While some amount of sugar is found in most foods, there is a direct correlation between sugar intake and weight gain. In fact, the more sugar a person eats, the more that person's body will store fat.
While it is natural for the human body to have some amount of sugar intake, any excess that the body is unable to properly metabolize is automatically converted into fat, which the body then stores for later use. Refined sugar that comes from carbohydrates which have been stripped of fiber generally metabolizes in the body faster, but excess sugars are still converted and stored.
