The American Heart Association offers Heart360, an online manager, and Blood Pressure Tracker, a downloadable form, as two methods for recording blood pressure readings. Either format enables a patient to monitor high or low blood pressure and easily share information with his or her physician, states the AHA website.

The AHA suggests that it is important to take blood pressure readings at the same time daily from both left and right arms. The systolic, the higher top number, and the diastolic, the lower bottom number, should both be recorded as a ratio. For example, a healthy reading is more than 120/80 and less than 140/90, states the AHA website.
