Suzuki was founded in the small coastal village of Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The company was founded by Michio Suzuki in 1909, and it was called Suzuki Loom Works.
For the first 30 years, Suzuki made weaving looms for the cotton industry in Japan. It built its first motorized bike in 1952, the Power Free. It had a bike frame with a 36cc, two-stroke engine. Suzuki is a global corporation with more than 45,000 employees with 35 production facilities in 23 countries, as of 2015. It also has 133 distributors in 192 countries.
Suzuki produces all-terrain vehicles, automobiles, four-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles and outboard marine engines.
