Fever and sore throat are often the first signs of hand, foot and mouth disease, according to Mayo Clinic. Malaise, or generally not feeling well, is also a symptom. Red, blister-like lesions on the gums, tongue and cheeks may be possible indications of the disease.
Loss of appetite and a red rash can sometimes be symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease, Mayo Clinic states. The rash appears on the palms, soles or buttocks and does not generally itch, although blistering occasionally occurs. Infants and toddlers suffering from the disease are often irritable. Symptoms of the disease are generally mild.
