What is a no-tap bowling tournament ?

No-tap bowling is a variation of bowling where players need to knock down at least a certain number of pins, rather than all 10, to count the first ball of a frame as a strike. Scoring is the same as standard bowling, except for the relaxed striking rule.
No-tap bowling allows newbies to compete against veteran bowling players on a level playing field. For instance, a seven-pin no-tap tournament counts any score above six as a strike, while a five-pin no-tap tournament also awards players a strike if one of the corner pins is left untouched. Pro-am and recreational tournaments sometime use the no-tap bowling format.
