How can I tell if my computer is being monitored?

Software designed to monitor computer activity can be found under Processes in the Task Manager on a PC. Simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the Task Manager. On a Mac, open up Gadgets and Gizmos, and then click Utilities and Activity Monitor to pull up the running processes.
Under these tabs, the potential spyware can hide under a process name that may not stick out as odd. If the program is not easily found, use a white list, which is list of commonly used spyware process names used by major corporations. Crosscheck the processes on the computer with the white list to determine if the computer is being monitored.
