What is a DYI ViDock?

A DIY ViDock is a user-created ViDock setup that allows a laptop computer to access an external graphics card, which boosts the graphics performance of the laptop. The DIY approach can save the user money through purchasing the necessary components at a cheaper price than an already-made ViDock.

DIY stands for do it yourself. The primary components for the DIY ViDock setup is an ExpressCard to PCI-Express adapter, the appropriate graphics card and a 12-volt power supply. This process has been engineered to work with both Apple and Windows-based laptops. The process of adding an external graphics card is referred to as a DIY eGPU.
