Some tips for repairing a water damaged phone include using a cloth to dab the inside of the battery compartment dry and using a vacuum to suck water from cracks and corners. Place the phone in a bag of dry rice for up to two days to absorb residual moisture.

The phone needs to be in an enclosed environment with the rice, such as a plastic container or a zip-seal bag. Do not turn on the phone until you can be relatively certain that all of the moisture inside the phone has been absorbed. Specially designed drying pouches are available that absorb moisture from inside of a water damaged phone using desiccant.
