To type Spanish accent marks on a PC in Microsoft Word, hold down the CTRL button. Next, press the apostrophe button, then the vowel.
- Open Microsoft Word
Open the word processing program to start typing.
- Hold down on CTRL
Press the control key, and hold it down. On a QWERTY keyboard, there are two control buttons, located in the bottom corners of the main section.
- Click the apostrophe button
Click on the apostrophe button. On a QWERTY keyboard, the apostrophe key is the one to the left of the "enter" button. It also has quotation marks on it. Do not hold down this key.
- Click the vowel requiring an accent mark
Type the button for the vowel that needs an accent mark. The accent mark will then appear over the letter. This method can put accent marks over the letters "a," "e," "i," "o" and "u." For example, to type á, press CTRL, then the ' key, and the "a" button.
- Capitalize the letter
To capitalize the accented letter, press the shift button while clicking on the letter requiring an accent mark. The shift keys on a QWERTY keyboard are located directly above the control keys, on the right and left sides of the keyboard.
