What is the temperature range in the troposphere?
By Forinfos - 09/08/2025 - 0 comments
The troposphere starts at the Earth's surface and extends up 5 to 10 miles depending on the location. The temperatures of the troposphere can vary from up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit near the Earth's surface to as low as minus 112 degrees Fahrenheit near its upper limit, the tropopause.
The troposphere contains all of the Earth's weather and 99 percent of its water vapor. Thickest over the equator and thinnest over the north and south poles, the troposphere contains 75 percent of the mass of the Earth's atmosphere and is largely responsible for protecting as well as insulating the planet.
