What is a tempus fugit grandmother clock?
By Forinfos - 17/03/2026 - 0 comments
Tempus fugit grandmother clocks are between 5 and 6 feet in height with the words tempus fugit printed on the dial. "Tempus fugit" is a Latin term meaning "time flies."
Grandmother clocks were manufactured in the 1920s as a solution for families that had difficulty affording the larger, more expensive grandfather clocks. Many are identical to grandfather clocks except for their stature, while some are more ornate. The words "tempus fugit" inscribed on the face of the clock usually replace a manufacturer's brand name. Many clocks with this inscription are smaller, less expensive clocks made by less well-known clock manufacturers.
