What is textured leather?

Textured leather is treated leather made with a texture press machine, as stated by Aspinal of London. The stamping method gives the leather a feel that is not smooth. The leather is usually finished with a wax treatment, which makes the leather more scratch resistant, durable and easy to clean.
Examples of leather textures include pebble grain, nubuck and Saffiano. Pebble grain has a grainy finish, which requires a light polish to prevent wax buildup between the grains. Nubuck resembles suede but with a finer texture, making it very delicate. Saffiano is leather textured with a cross-hatch pattern with diagonal lines, which usually gives the leather a more vibrant and saturated color.
