What are think tank jobs?

Analysts at think tanks apply scientific research methods to answer public policy questions and find solutions to problems. In addition to analyst positions, think tanks need support personnel, including research assistants, administrative workers and project coordinators. Attorneys also work in advocacy positions for think tanks.
Many think tanks are non-profit organizations, so the analyst's research is usually limited according to the terms of a research grant. Researchers must write reports for experts in the field and policymakers. Analysts must have great communication skills and in most cases must hold at least a master's degree. Experience or education in social sciences is a plus.
