Thoracic spine disorders include adult kyphosis, Scheuermann’s kyphosis, herniated thoracic disks and compression fractures, according to the Center for Neuro and Spine. Additional disorders include thoracic tumors, thoracic traumas and thoracic infections.

Adult kyphosis presents as an abnormal forward curve in the spine, explains the Center for Neuro and Spine. The curve may be congenital, traumatic, latrogenic or caused by conditions such as osteoporosis. Conservative treatments options for adult kyphosis include medication, spinal braces and physical therapy. Although risky, surgery to treat kyphosis may reduce or stop the growth of the deformity and ease pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.
