Which of the three Greek orders is the simplest?

The simplest of the three Greek orders is the Doric. The Doric was used beginning in the seventh century B.C. and is the strongest and oldest of the orders.

The Doric was first used in temples and involves placing columns very close together. This order does not use bases and the shafts contain flutes that are concave curves. The first orders used by the Greeks were made of wood, and when the Doric came to be, it was made from stone, although the forms of the orders did not change. In the beginning, the Greeks only used one order per building but as creativity and technology increased, they began adding several to the buildings.
