How does a three-point hitch work on a tractor?
By Forinfos - 17/12/2025 - 0 comments
The three-point hitch on a tractor uses one upper and two lower connection points, providing a stable way to attach equipment to the rear of the tractor. The two lower connection points include hydraulic cylinders that raise and lower the attached implement, making movement easier.
The three-point hitch offers the advantage of converting the equipment drag into downward pressure on the back of the tractor, maximizing the traction when the pull is the most difficult. Some models also have a hydraulic arm at the upper connection to control the depth of tillage implements. Harry Ferguson developed the three-point hitch in the 1920s.
