Bermuda grass can be planted when soil temperatures reach 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Bermuda grass can be planted in the autumn, spring or winter if temperatures are high.
Bermuda grass can be planted in any season. When planting Bermuda grass during the spring or summer, Texas A&M University recommends planting hulled grass seed directly into soil for optimal growth. In the fall and winter, sow un-hulled Bermuda grass seed with rye seed to promote healthy grass growth during the next growing season. The rye stalks assist the Bermuda grass by protecting new blades of grass from the elements. Avoid planting or laying Bermuda grass sod during the hottest months of the year.
