What is the Times Square New Year's Ball made of?

The most recent Times Square New Year's Ball was made from Waterford crystal triangles, LED lights and corresponding wiring, and an aluminum frame. Many iterations of the ball have appeared since its introduction in 1907.
When it was introduced, the Times Square New Year's Eve Ball was made from iron, wood and 100 incandescent light bulbs.
By its third iteration, the ball was made using aluminum instead of steel. That ball remained in use until New Year's Eve 1999, when a version of the Waterford crystal ball was introduced. The current ball as of 2014, which is the fifth version, has been in use since 2008.
