What are topical treatments that work on a hand rash caused by dish-washing?

Individuals with hand rashes caused by dish washing should apply cortisone cream to treat the inflamed skin, says the University of Western Ontario. They should also lubricate their hands frequently with mineral oil, petroleum jelly or another moisturizer recommended by a doctor.
Initially, it may be necessary to use a potent cortisone cream for better penetration, but individuals should switch to a mild cortisone cream once the rash is under control, as prolonged use of potent cortisone creams may cause thinning of the skin, according to the University of Western Ontario. Upon recovery, individuals need only continue to use lubricants or moisturizers to help maintain the condition of their hands.
