How do you treat dogs sprayed by skunks?

The recommended formula for de-skunking a dog is mixing a quart of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, a teaspoon of liquid soap and a 1/4 cup of baking soda, according to the Humane Society of the United States and Dogtime. Use gloves, and keep the mixture out of the dog's eyes.

Make the mixture immediately before use, as it can explode if kept in a container for long periods. Do not leave the solution on too long, as it can cause bleaching. After rinsing off the solution, shampoo the dog and towel dry. A dog may benefit from an eye wash if it has received sprays directly in the face.
