After being stung by a wasp, remove the stinger with either your fingernail or a credit card, suggests WebMD. Immediately afterward, apply ice to the sting for 20 minutes of each hour that you feel pain.
To combat potential side effects of the sting, take an antihistamine and ibuprofen, states WebMD. Keep the affected area clean with soap and water, and use an antibiotic ointment to ward off any infection that might spread. If it has been more than 10 years since your last tetanus shot, see your primary care doctor for a booster within a few days of being stung.
