What are the treatment options for chickenpox?
By Forinfos - 20/05/2025 - 0 comments
Treatment options for chickenpox includes antihistamines and antiviral drugs, according to the Mayo Clinic. Antiviral drugs are typically only needed if the person is at high risk for complications.
Chickenpox can cause severe itching, so antihistamines come in handy for relieving that symptom. Over-the-counter creams can also be used on the skin to alleviate the itching. In severe cases, or when a person has scratched and developed a skin infection, antibiotics may be required. The same is true if a person develops pneumonia as a result of chickenpox. With average people, chickenpox is left to run its course and there is no cure.
