What is a treatment for no-see-ums?

According to the West Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District, no-see-um bites are especially itchy, but a quick application of ice can reduce overall pain and a topical/oral antihistamine, as well as ibuprofen can help to reduce swelling and itching. Calamine lotion, Vic's Vapor Rub and Tiger Balm have also been known to give some relief.
No-see-ums are named for their tiny size, which makes them difficult to detect and allows them to easily pass through normal window screens. They do not spread diseases to humans. Because of the itching they cause, however, they increase the risk of skin infections by causing excessive scratching. If infections arise, antibiotics may be needed.
