How do you troubleshoot a gas oven ignitor?

To troubleshoot a gas oven ignitor, rub it with a toothbrush to remove dirt and debris, unblock the air hole with a needle, and then check the ignitor for sparks. If no sparks are produced, remove the old ignitor, and replace it with a new one.

1. Check the gas supply

   Examine the gas supply lines to ensure that they are well attached. Check if the gas tank has gas by turning on the valves to the stove. Refill the tank if it does not have gas.

2. Clean the ignitor

   Remove the bottom cover of the oven to access the ignitor, rub off dirt and debris from the ignitor with a toothbrush to enhance the ignition sparks when you turn the oven on, and blow away the dirt residue. Insert a needle into the hole that lets out air when the burners turn on, and remove any buildup blocking the hole.

3. Test the sparks, and fasten the electrical connections

   Switch off the gas, and check the ignition for sparks by hitting the ignition button. If the ignitor does not throw sparks, replace it with a new one. Tighten any loose screws on the electrical connections to the ignitor with a screwdriver to enhance electric charge.
