What is Tumblr?

Tumblr is an Internet blogging platform that combines streams of user posts into a feed of photos, text posts, quotes, music, video and more. Tumblr has been compared to other social media websites because it encourages users to interact with each other through "following" and "reblogging".

Tumblr was launched in February of 2007, and as of November 2014, it hosts over 209 million blogs. It boasts a unique user interface that features a dashboard showcasing posts from "followed" users as well as handy user tools, such as a post queue and the option to edit posts with HTML. Tumblr also features mobile apps available for Android, iPhone, Windows Phone and Google Glass.
