What two colors make red?

As one of the primary colors, red can only be mixed by combining magenta and yellow paint, dye or ink. Along with red, other primary colors include green and blue.

According to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, various combinations of yellow, cyan and magenta paint create red, blue and green paint. For instance, the combination of cyan paint and magenta paint makes blue paint, and the combination of yellow paint and cyan paint results in green paint.

Mixing paint colors is different than mixing colors of light. Oregon Museum of Science and Industry notes that red, green and blue light combinations can make all other colors of light.
