What type of cells undergo mitosis?

Somatic cells go through the process of mitosis. The Genetics Home Reference website defines a somatic cell as any cell that is not an egg cell or sperm cell.

Mitosis is the process of cell division. During this process, a cell copies its DNA and divides into two daughter cells. These daughter cells are identical to the original cell. Mitosis occurs in five different phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase and interphase. The first two phases help the cell get ready to divide. Cell division begins in anaphase and ends in telophase. During interphase, the cell is resting and getting ready to undergo the process of mitosis sometime in the future.
