Some of the prominent manufacturers of antique fire extinguishers were Pyrene, General, Buffalo, Fyr Fyter, and Chris Craft. These fire extinguishers were commonly used in homes and cars, and on airplanes, trains, and boats.
The Pyrene extinguisher was made of brass. Because it didn't feature pressurization, the Pyrene required its own brand of fluid bought in a can and poured in when the extinguisher ran low or emptied. The General featured a Safety Phlare pump handle. General's company name changed over time, and versions included the General Fire Truck Corp., the General Detroit Corp. and the General Pacific Corp. Some extinguishers produced by Buffalo featured the Ford Motor Company logo.
