What types of jobs are in child care management services?

Positions available in child care services include mother’s helpers, babysitters, nannies, au pairs and day care workers. Mother’s helpers assist with childcare in the home with a parent present and are typically low-paying positions.

Babysitters care for children when the parents are not home and may do so at the their own homes or at the children’s homes. Most babysitters work part-time on an hourly basis. Nannies provide in-home care on a more regular basis and may live with the family. Au pairs are foreign nationals who live with a host family and receive room and board and a living allowance in exchange for child care. Day care providers offer day care for groups of children and can work at a commercial day care center or offer services through their own homes.
