What types of plants are in the Sahara Desert?

Date palms and acacias are two types of plants found in the Sahara Desert. Tamarisks are another type of plant found in the Sahara.

Due to the lack of water, very few plants are able to sustain life in the Sahara. A few flowering plants pop up when the area sees rain, but they die off within a few days.

The Sahara Desert is home to animals such as sheep and fox. Reptiles and birds are also found in the area. The animals often dig burrows to stay out of the sun during the daylight and come out in the open at night to hunt.
