The Federal Pell Grant Program doesn't stipulate an upper age limit for applicants, so women over 50 are eligible if they meet the qualifications. Pell grants are offered to undergraduate students working towards their first degree and students enrolled in postbaccalaureate teacher certification programs, states the U.S. Department of Education.
Women are ineligible for a Pell grant if they are currently in a state or federal prison or if, after incarceration, they are sentenced to involuntary civil commitment for a sexual offense, states the U.S. Department of Education. As of 2015, eligible students receive up to $5,775 based on financial need, number of classes taken and cost of attendance.
