To shrink wrap a package, first measure and cut the shrink-wrap film to fit the item to be wrapped. Then, seal the open edges with a sealer or hair dryer. Finally, use a hair dryer or heat gun to evenly shrink the rest of the film.

For professional-quality shrink wrapping, using a heat sealer to seal the edges of the film and then a heat wand to evenly heat and shrink the film is usually a faster, easier process. However, when using a hair dryer, a high-quality shrink wrap is possible if the time is taken to heat the film evenly and completely. Keep in mind that holding a wand or hair dryer for an extended period of time in one area or getting too close can cause the plastic to warp or become damaged.
